The rivalry pre-dates both teams joining the SBHL. Both managers have been long-time friends and were barbers that worked at the same barber shop. Both managers wanted to join the South Bay Hyphy League after it's inception, but needed to wait for league expansion. Both managers were given the opportunity to select which conference they would join. They wanted to face each other annually, so they decided to enter the league in the same conference, guaranteeing an annual match.
